Intelligence Saturday

As you might know, my life is somewhat dictated by POTUS's schedule. Whenever he changes plans, some of the time, that changes my plans. I was supposed to go to Indonesia and Australia with him next week but because of that pesky oil spill, the trip was postponed. People have asked me if I am disappointed in not going on the trip next week. Honest answer? No. I will go on the next big international trip wherever it may be. And it's not like I would have really had lots of time to explore Indonesia or Australia. It will all work out I'm sure. Plus now I have a week back in June to get stuff done and to get to see my family at the beach. It's all good.

POTUS also made a last-second decision to go back to the Gulf to check on the oil spill on Friday. That meant my schedule changed somewhat (I'm not complaining because that is what I signed up for... it's more just pointing it out) so I potentially had to work really late on Friday night and then I worked on Saturday. I really actually don't mind working the occasional Saturday because usually that means that I get a day off during the week and I'm okay with that!

Normally there is nothing going on for a Saturday. POTUS will go play basketball or a long afternoon of golf. And if you're not in the travel pool, you don't have to worry about anything. But this Saturday, just to keep me on my toes, POTUS had an event in the Rose Garden where he announced his new pick for the Director of National Intelligence. It was very much a standard event and because it was Saturday, it was fairly low-key. Just POTUS, the nominee, and us.

He made his comments and then his nominee talked. He was great! He thanked his family and then said that like his grandkids, "nominees should seen, not heard." And then they turned and walked off. Short, sweet, and too the point I guess!
Then I decided to take some pictures of the pretty flowers in the Rose Garden... no roses but still beautiful nonetheless!
