The Low Wave

Many people ask me if POTUS knows me. I think the answer is 'sort of'. He has heard my name several times. I've asked him a question in a small press conference (when I was in travel pool). I've been introduced to him at least four times and last year at the Christmas party he was pretty convincing that he actually knew me. But we are far from knowing each other. But I am confident that he absolutely recognizes me. He sees me a lot in the crowd and since I'm short and blond, I stick out in the press crowd.

I see him getting on a chopper and a plane a lot. I mean a lot. In every season and type of weather. I've been out on the South Lawn in the rain, sleet, snow, the day after an ice storm, in the heat, the day they mow the grass, etc. And I think I've only been out there two times when he's actually stopped to talk to the press. But on a normal day, he leaves the Oval Office and about twenty paces into the walk, he starts waving. He makes eye contact with us and waves. I don't know why but he always looks at me and gives me this low wave. He twirls his hand down low by his side. Maybe it's because I'm short. Maybe it's because he thinks I'm some kid and shouldn't be out there. I don't know. For a while, I was just getting a regular old wave. But on Friday, I was happy to see that we were back to the low wave. (Apparently I wasn't as zoomed in on the above picture as I thought I was! And this is him right after the low wave when he pointed in my direction.) When I step back and think about it, it's pretty strange that I have a specific wave from the leader of the free world on a fairly routine basis!
