We spent Wednesday night at the Grand America hotel in Salt Lake City, the only 5-star hotel in SLC. It was built for the Olympics in 2002 so that the International Olympic Committee could have a nice place to stay during the games. I've actually stayed there once before. The last time was in August 2006 and it was the most expensive nap I've ever taken. Due to mechanical problems of our charter, we hadn't gotten to SLC until about 1a and we had to do liveshots the next morning and had to catch a bus at 3:30a. When I finally found my room in the HUGE hotel, I practically got lost finding the bathroom. I had a three room suite and it was absolutely gorgeous. There was a hallway to the living room and then another small hallway to the bedroom and then a changing room and then the biggest bathroom I've ever seen. I thought I was staying in a small piece of heaven.
Fast forward to this week and when I walked into my room at midnight, you can imagine my astonishment when THERE WAS ONLY ONE ROOM! No separate sitting room. No dressing room. Just one big room with a bed and a desk and some chairs and a TV. All in the same room. On face value, it was an extremely nice room but when I knew what I was missing and what it could have been, suddenly I felt like I had been ripped off!! The bathroom was still larger than my apartment but smaller than the last time. Oh, and get this! No chocolates were on my bed! Oh the inhumanity! HAHA! I realize I am completely spoiled and I don't know what to do about it!! :)
Thursday work-wise was still a bit busy but my colleague did the bulk of the work. Since I had had a later day on Wednesday, she got up at 5a and let me sleep until a little later. Except that I couldn't sleep. Maybe it was the lack of good accommodations! :)
